ignition switch?
ignition switch?
ive been having some starting issues that are becoming more frequent then usual. i know the ignition switch is a typical thing to go bad, so i was wondering if that is my problem. i will try to start the car, itll attempt to turn over but cuts right off. from key in to cutting off it takes about 4 seconds. the green key light does flash each time. also, i was driving the other day and it tried to cut off on me. again the light was flashing and the car turned off and back on in just a second or two. any help? if it is is there a diy on how to fix it and a price?
thanks
thanks
My 1999 TL had very similar symptoms that were due to a failing ignition switch. It would start and then immediately die. It would sometimes stall at low RPMs. A few times it stalled between 20 and 40 MPH.
There is a recall in place for the ignition switch in the 1999 TL. If yours has not been replaced yet, Acura will install a new one for free. If it has been replaced already, you can buy one for $100 or less and install it yourself.
My TL is on its 3rd ignition switch. The second one was installed under the recall and I replaced that one myself a couple of years ago.
There's a great DIY install thread link in the Official DIY Thread:

Hi slvrcrunch :
I agree with the rest of the postings. One thing to try....start the car but keep just a little forward pressure on the key in the "on" position (not the start position !) and see if that causes it to keep running and not stall.
If it keeps running then its definitely the switch.
