Igniter ??

Hi all,

Moisture got into my headlight assembly, killing the ballast...again !

Found a local '03 assembly with bulbs, igniter and ballast. Seller suggests trying it out before I buy it. Cool.

Upon testing, the HID bulb flickered rapidly and made a clicking sound, but would not light up. All the other bulbs were working.
Tried 3 different bulbs, including the one from my assembly, same results.

Reinstalled my assembly, my bulb would still not work of course, but there is no rapid flickering or noise. Just won't come on.

Does this point to an igniter issue with the seller's assembly ?
If not, what could it be ?

Thanks for any input....
Mike

Once our old original "HID" set-up starts having problems, it's usually easier and cheaper to just replace them with the newer technology available from aftermarket vendors. Get a kit for about $100 and a few hours of "DIY" time installing. You will then have a more dependable set-up.

Old parts are old parts- in the case of TL hid parts they are garbage,, as you have found

I agree with 3.2, there are 2 good sources mentioned in every low beam thread on here
60-100 U$D gets you 2 complete setups that are easy diy, cut and splice 4 wires, and play!
Intl shipping wont be a problem just takes longer

have you sealed the edge of lens to housing- so water doesn't get in again?

with the new modern waterproof parts it wont be an issue, but stopping it with a bead of silicone seal is worth your time- while the housings are off the car

Sealing the housing is my next step, but there was no time to do that while we were testing things yesterday. It does not look difficult to do.
After it's sealed, I will ponder the ballast or new kits.

This is making me crazy, LOL

its not even a decision!!
keep spending money on parts that are old and failing to never fix the lights
OR
spend a little money one more time, for a major modernization of the lighting system
This is something you must ponder?

order the kit- reseal the lights- install kit and enjoy
