i got a vtec malfunction 99 tl-p

chek engune just came on. Went to getvit checked out and found out its a vtec malfunction. Now wtf!! . Does anybody know what i should to fix it or chek what itcoild be?!

vtec operates off of oil.
Check to see if your oil level is not low.


2nd, if you could give us the EXACT code, it would be VERY beneficial to us

+1 on low oil, also what weight oil are you using?
Engine off and warmed up to check it.

Yeah, perhaps the oil filter is getting old and grungy. If it's been awhile, try a fresh oil change.

Depending on the actual code, ya may want to consider pulling the oil filter assembly which also contains the VTEC solenoid. Could be that the VTEC is sticking or it's screen is gunked up ?

The code was ia p1259, im using 10-30 castrol. Idk wtf. I think i should seafoam and then change oil. I hope i dont have to change the solenoid

Check the wiring connections to the VTEC solenoid. Also, it cold possibly be a faulty oil pressure switch.

I was using 10-30 should i use a thicker oil? Its gonna get hot this summer. What would you recomend

What I meant to ask was whats the oil level ? check the dipstick with engine off then clean it, put back in then check the level (it should be between the dots) but make sure its on a level surface before checking.
If its low fill back up.
I have always used 5w30, don't use any thicker oil than what you using.

If it was low check for leaks that may have caused it to go low.
