HVAC temperature problem

this has been a while now but I finally am getting tired of it. If I have the air on say 60 (no matter if the AC is on or not) and I want to turn the heat up, I have to turn the temp up way past 80 for anything to happen. I can put it on 70 and it will not change. Then once I turn it up high enough and the heat does start to come on I can turn it back down to 70 or so and it will stay there.

I can't tell what the fix could be for sure?

There are two places to look at, one is on the passenger side, lookup under the foot well behind HU somewhere, there is a control arm, make sure that is still working and not sticky. Some members said you could hear the clicking sound when it is not working, or it could be sticky. Second place is in the engine compartment, also on passenger side, on the firewall, there will be a small rod coming through, make sure to clean that rod, it could be sticky.

Other than that, your controller could be acting up, but it looks like mechanical mechanism is the issue. it did happen to me a few times.

Cool.

I've got just about the same problem: If I am getting cool air and want hot, I have toturn the temp WAY up to "activate" the heater, then back it off. If I am getting hot air and want cool, I have to turn the temp WAY down to "activate" the cool air, then back it off.

I'll have to check out the fixes here and see if they help.

This is the one I am talking about behind the head unit somewhere. It is under Heater Unit category. The arm on top of the unit is where the problem is if it is not moving.
