Question How do I program the gate opener?

I recently bought a 2000 TL, and it did not come with an owners manual. How do I program the gate/ garage opener? (I'm using it for a gate, not a garage, if that makes a difference). Thanks!

i dont think you can program a gate to open because most garage openers have a "learning button" which a gate doesnt have. however if it does have a learning button then pm me and i'll post the walkthrough in this thread for you

You dont need an opener with a "learning button". If the gate opener uses the same kind of transmission (6+ code frequency i believe) then it should be programmable, as long as the gate itself doesnt change the code after every use. Some newer garage doors do this, I'm not sure about gates. Anyhow, if everything is essentially the same, then you should be able to program it.

I could be remembering wrong, but if not then this is how you program it. If you have a free homelink button(s) that isnt programmed for anyhting you can skip this first step. If not, you will need to reset the memory and reassign whatever previous devices (other than the gate opener). Hold down the far left and far right homelink buttons until the little red light flashes, this should reset the memory. Take your car out of range of the gate so you dont keep opening and closing it while doing this. Hold hold the gate opener transmitter very close to the homelink controls. Press whichever homelink button you wish to asign your gate to (1 2 or 3) and hold it, and immediately press and hold your gate control down and hold it until the red light on the homelink system flashes. I COULD be wrong, but I believe thats correct.
