Hole on muffler

Hole on muffler
I have a hole on the top of the passenger side muffler and it caused a big hole on the trunk panel right above the muffler. What would be the quickest and cheapest way to patch the hole on the muffler and in the truck? I don't want to spend much more money on this car but I need to keep it at least for couple more years. Thank you!

Buy a used muffler. As for the hole on the car, Clean up the area, get some 2 part metal epoxy and a piece of metal and cut it to fit. Use some self tapping screws and screw it into place so that its a tight fit. once happy with that remove screws, mix up the epoxy spread it to one of the surfaces and screw the panel back on. Once cured prime and paint to protect.

J-B Weld is your friend. It works really well. Take out your muffler, use a tin sheet for patching, then mix up the jbweld and patch it up. I prefer not to use the Quick Dry. it is cheap and easy to do. Do it in the afternoon and it it set overnight. Can't beat 7bux task. fix on muffler and the car. Clean up the surface before appling of course.

Thanks everyone for your help and advices. I will definitely try JB weld with sheet metal.
I found some exhaust bandages from auto part stores. Has anyone used these products before? I read some feedback and there are mix of opinions and wanted to know if anyone in this forum has used it.
Again, thanks a lot!

Hole in muffler caused hole in trunk......
Welcome Ogong !!!
Assuming that the car's damaged muffler was the original, consider replacing it with another used one as Fsttyms1 suggested. This makes more sense if ya wanna keep the car a few more years, IMO.
Is the muffler's hole from rust ? Sometimes patching repairs don't hold up long.
Ya may wanna just delete both rear mufflers and have a shop replace with straight pipe out the rear from the flanges. Relatively inexpensive to do.

Will I be still able to pass the emission test with the straight pipes you are talking about? What if I just remove both of the mufflers without replacing them with straight pipe, will it be same as the straight pipes? I like the idea! Thanks.

If the rear mufflers are removed by unbolting at the flanges, you can always put them back on if desired. You'll have to check with your local inspection station for specifics on emissions, as it varies from one area to another.
By fabricating the straight pipes to replace the mufflers, the exhaust will exit out the rear as before.....only having a bit more growl !!! Have the shop flange mount the pipes.
