![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I found a hole in the a/c line that goes to the condenser, its a metal line, i think its high pressure.. the hole is very small, about 1mm or a little bigger. Is there anything that can patch up the hole? or do i just get the whole line changed?? anyone know? Changing the line might be more expensive.. so im looking for another solution there might be.

Should he replace the reciever/drier too?
Due to moisture/dirt through the hole?
At least let the vacuum pump run on it overnight before recharging it?

You can replace the line or have someone that can weld aluminum patch it, probably easier to just replace it. You should replace the dryer if the system has been opened. Leaving the vacum pump anymore then 20-30 minutes is pretty much useless. You don't get a "better" vacum by letting run longer.
Has the system been opened a very long time? Do you suspect a lot of dirt or debris may have entered the system?

Would there be some value in running the vacuum pump overnight to try and get the remaining moisture out of the system?
I know it won't pull any more vacuum after 20-30 min, but a longer time under vacuum might boil off more contaminates and suck them out?
Or is this a don't care if you replace the dryer?

The only part of the system that really accumulates moisture is the Dryer (high side) or Accumulator (low side). A/C systems either have one or the other, Honda uses dryers. Running a vacuum pump over night isn't going to do anything but run your electric bill up.
Run it for at most an hour but don't waste time to do it over night... these systems are to small to require such a long period of evacuation.
Just change your dryer, vacuum it for a few minutes till it reaches max vacuum, close all the valves and make sure it holds vacuum, if it does and all is well, turn on the vacuum again and let er rip till you want to stop (I just recommend that so you don't waste an hour vacuuming it only to learn theres a small leak when you are done). Then fill it with refrigerant till the pressures are right.

it was probably open for about a week.. but i dont want to end up damaging other parts because there might be debris in the line.. and end up paying more money to fix it.

If it was months and left stored outdoors it would be a real issue- a week I would just replace/fix hose, vac and recharge- make sure to use the right oil- see sticker next to compressor for specs

The Dryer is a filter. So any debris will be trapped in the dryer but you really shouldn't have to worry about that if it's just a pinhole. It's not like you where riding around without a compressor on the car and the lines open to the elements.
Change the dryer, vacuum it, and fill it. Like 01tl4tl stated, make sure you use the correct oil, if you're system uses PAG (I think it's PAG, someone correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while) oil it can not be mixed with other oils. Also DO NOT overfill it with oil.
Good Luck.

Please HELP!!! I had something pierce my Radiator, probably a rock ($700 repair completed) and my A/C was WORKING before the Acura Dealer changed my radiator. Dealer didn't notice it until they test drove my car after radiator, I needed my car so I drove it for a week. I told the dealer my AC was working before my radiator went out, so a week later I brought it into the dealer. Service manager wasn't there - I told the new service mgr that I was told to bring it in so they could find out of if whatever pierced my radiator actually pierced my AC condensor. They looked and didn't find a hole. Service MGR that I dealt with originally wasn't there of course, so called him up and he said there has got to be a hole for sure, so I am bringing it in THIRD time again. New AC Condensor with recharge is $625. Am I getting screwed here? I have about 95K on this car, new brakes rotors tires and new tranny. Any suggestions? Can anyone fix an Acura TL AC Condensor?? Sears or Goodyear. Trying to save some money since I've invested so much in this car. Maintenance on this car is expensive!!!!

Isnt your condensor in front or the radiator?
Its a good bet that any rock that took out the rad also hit the ac
The easy way to find out is add a can off freon with red dye in it
finds leaks fast!
You must be a masochi$t to have the dealer doing any of this work!
Look in the phone book for a private shop
If you have comprehensive coverage insurance that may cover the repair
