HID Replacement..Maybe???? Please Help
HID Replacement..Maybe???? Please Help
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I posted but I'm having issues with my HIDs on my 2000 TL.
Here's the problem: When I turn on my headlights, both lights go on but the drivers side light slowly dims to an amber color which then eventually goes out.
The right side stays on though. To me, I think it's either the bulb or the module. I don't think the ignitor is the issue since both HIDs light up when I initially turn them on. I haven't tried to switch out the bulbs yet but when I popped open the hood today, I was quickly discouraged by all of the items that are in the way of just removing the round housing.
With that being said, does / has anyone out there experienced the same thing with their HIDs? Is it the HID bulb or the module or something else? Has anyone out there ever changed out their HIDs and if so, what is the best way to do it?
As usual, Thank you everyone in advance!!!!

I just recently had an issue with my HIDs. For me it was the ballast but my problem was a little different. My light would flicker when it came on and sometimes it would go out. After turning it on/off a couple times it normally would stay on. After a couple days it would flash on when I turned the lights on but would go out immediately. I ended up buying Philips 6000k so I've got a back up set of HIDs. You have to remove the bumper and the headlight to swap ballasts but the headlight should be easy enough. I am not sure if the stock intake is in the way or not, I have a CAI but on the other side, it shouldn't be to bad.
Well today I swapped the bulbs and found out it was indeed the bulb and not the module...THANK GOD!!!! I'd rather be buying a new set of bulbs than a module. Thanks for everyone's input on this. Thanks!!

I gottem from a guy on ebay. His nameis Mike and I believe his company name is HIDCONCEPTS.com No, they weren't brand new, they were"slighty used" according to the auction. So my question to him was...How slightlyused were they? He replied back with about 200 hours on the bulbs. Since they are rated for 3000 hrs, I figured they still have a lot more life in them.
...or at least till the end of the year when I trade the TL in for a newer TL....WOOOOHOOOOO!!!
