HID problems need help here guys!!!!

hi everyone. I'm a newbie to dis site anyways. my girl's 2000 tl hid just ran out and before it really ran out it gets like pink and then it turns off. it was still fine i'll just need to turn it back on. but now it won't even turn on. I don't want to pay $800 to fix it at dealer. so just wanna ask is it ok to put aftermarket hid on? do i need to move the whole old system out? or can i still use the old ballast and eveything? Thanks guys!!!

Either the ballast or the bulb might be fucked. Probably just the bulb. They usually go pink like that when they start dying. Screw the dealership i just bought a set of HID's from retro-solutions.com check it out you can get bulb and new kits at this website. The size bulb you'll need is 9006 and you can choose what colors you want. Or you can check out excellerate website. Hes a member here, just look up his name. You'll probably pay about $150 or so for a set of bulbs, i think.

The bulbs do go pink when they are dying. The size you need is NOT 9006, it's D2R. 9006 is for the fog lights. I bought a set of 6000k's from ebay for under $30 and they are running strong 8 months later.

Lightbulb

The bulb is a D2R style bulb. Mine went out about 6 months ago. Replaced them with a set I bought from Ebay. I forget the seller's name. While you're at it change both cause a new and an old bulb will have different colors. There's probably a diy for how to di the job yourself. Bulbs plus my own labor only cost me $70. Sweet!

People say that the color change to pink is a sign of a dying bulb. If you want to confirm that it is indeed the bulb, just switch the bulb on the side that's still working to the side that's not. If it lights up, then you can confidently say it's the bulb, and just go buy a new pair of bulbs. If not, next steps are probably to take a look at your ballast / inverter...

See the post above. Why change your ballast if all you need is bulbs? And yes, replace the bulbs in pairs, the light output will be different and will be noticeable. Buy the bulbs on eBay, you need D2R bulbs. Good luck!

I have an 02 TL type-s and I found a set of D2R bulbs at DDM tuning for $30 bucks. They are located in San Diego and have cheap ballasts and everything else. You can order online and have them shipped in a couple days.

I just purchased two Sylvania HID D2R bulbs thru advance auto (sylvania told me the names of the local retailers) paid 137 each................expensive
but I had talked to my local acura dealer a year of so ago and they had quoted me the same bulb for 177? well today the dealer says he is now selling the Osram d2r bulb for oem part??????\ and the same price 177
Guess what ???????Osram and sylvania are the same company?????????
I hope to get the same amount of usage as my originals (2003 tl purchased new and has 147000 miles now ) I also bougt on fleabay two oem headlight assembleys and the dealer will also install for me??????? with clean glass and now my lights will be like new
Wish me luck and I just wanted to get you guys opinion on my deal with the sylvania bulbs instead of other aftermarket bulbs????/
Thanks

Thanks and thats is the kind of feedback that I'm looking for in the comparison between the different D2R oem and aftermarket...Thanks
I purchased mine due to that a couple of years ago that brand was the oem issued at the acura parts house? I figured that if i get 6 years of service from these that I will stay out of my wallet. but who knows and I'm trying to get more feedback
Is This Country Great or What
