HID Kit (Foglights) interfering with radio frequency
Ever since I installed my 9006 HID PnP kit for foglights, when I turn on the foglights, it seems to be interfering with my AM radio, especially going under overpasses... I hear this high pitched static. Anyone else have this issue or any recommendations for a fix... like covering the ballast with something? Not a real big issue and I can live with it, but just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Thanks.
Not on my TL, but on my Subaru Legacy the previous owner installed a piecemeal HID kit with Umnitza 55w ballasts and there's noise in the electrical system pm that car now. The radio is fine, but Subaru radios seem much more robust to noise than the Acura TL Bose radio. (EVERY cellphone I've owned sends noise through the TL's speakers.) The ballast kit on the Subaru messes with the rally computer, which has no real isolation or noise filtering.
I haven't tested it yet, but I went to a local audio shop and bought a noise filter. They used to sell them at Radio Shack back in the day, but my local "Source" didn't have them anymore. You can try installing it in the +12V line going to the radio.
OOC, whose HID kit was it?
