Hid going out? HELPP!!!!

So in the past week my driver side headlight has been going off. The passenger side works fine. i can fix it by just turing the lights off then on again and everything seems to be okay. but i just noticed today that the driver side headlight seems brighter. Does this mean the bulb is going to go out soon?

yup should just be a bulb, mine did the same thing...go on ebay and look for phillips 4300k's, i just got them and they are nice..go with the a 6000k if u want a more blueish tint but the 4300ks are nice and bright....get them in a pair because most likely ur other bulb doesnt have much life left in it

There you go....order from this guy. And yes, the 4300k are the stock bulbs.

not a hard install, a little cramped on the driver side...no need to take the headlight out, access from the back just like any other assembly

Yes, the OEM bulbs are 4300K D2R. 4300K bulbs provide the best visibility. Some forum members have noted that even relatively low 6000K bulbs provided noticeably less light on the road and the loss was even more pronounced in the rain.

Installation is fairly easy. On the driver side you'll want to pull a couple of vent pieces up and out. No tools are needed but look for a couple of push fittings on the upper vent piece before you lift up on it.

On the passenger side you can pull a fluid reservoir up and to the side.

You'll want a tamper-proof Torx T-20 tool to remove the aft housings. The tamper-proof Torx has a small hole in the center of the bit. A regular T-20 Torx will not fit the bolts on the TL.

Wear latex gloves when handling the bulbs since the oils from your skin can cause a premature bulb failure. Take your time since things are a little tight and you don't want to drop a bulb.

Read the eBay bulb descriptions carefully as some of them are used. One of the D2R auctions from the seller above notes:

The bulbs have been used for short term and they still have lots of life time remaining.

If you're going to go through the hassle of installing your own bulbs, pay a bit more for brand new bulbs. Who knows how many hours are on the used bulbs?

You should be able to find a brand new pair of 4300K D2R bulbs for well under $100. I bought two brand new Philips D2Rs on eBay from an established seller for $68.49 shipped. They were a tremendous improvement over my original bulbs which had faded in brightness over time.

Good Luck!

Bob

Those information is so helpful. My driver side headlight and turning signal light have been gone out for a while. People helped me remove the headlight. Yes, it is out. But, we had some trouble to remove the turning signal light. Is the turning signal light special? Where can I get a good price one?

Same symptoms...I found water in the grey plug that connects to the ballast.

I have moisture built up in my headlight as well. Do you think replacing the whole headlight assembly would be the best option? I don't want to have to buy/replace bulbs constantly.

I replaced the headlight assembly for another reason. All I did was dry the plug out and then tape it up.

i say you take that headlight out and figure out where the air leak is coming from and put some silicone sealant on it to cover it up. You should be fine then.

Did you figure out where all the water came from?

Probably the sky

Water splashes all over the place...probably from running through a puddle. It was during snow season so slushy puddles were everywhere. Dried it up, taped it up, all good.

Sorry, I know this thread is from a while ago. I was wondering, mytaliza, do you still have those bulbs and want to get rid of them. I'll gladly pay for them, since one of my bulbs went out now. Also, do you know how much life is left on them? Thanks in advance.
