Headlight Aiming Troubles
Headlight Aiming Troubles
What's up Aziners!
Another problem that I've noticed and am hoping to get solved! I put a 35W 5000K Morimoto HID kit in my low beams, and I adjusted the headlights (or at least I thought I did) and then I went night driving and realized that my headlights are literally aimed only 10 feet down the road.
So I readjusted them, as high as they would go, and then realized after driving at night again that they were still aimed like 10 feet down the road. They go lower when I adjust them to be lower, but they don't aim any higher!
Any ideas?
I am going to projector retrofit in the future, but I wanted to see if I couldn't get this solved in the meantime! Thanks!

Hey Cincinattiguy19, before installing the HID replacement kit.....were your lights working ok ? The kit should not require adjustment of the headlight aiming if they were previously good.
There are two adjuster's for each headlamp assembly. The "horizontal" adjuster is located near the top, while the "vertical" adjuster is down off the lower side of the lamp's rear housing.....a bit tougher to find.

3.2TLc the stock bulbs were having the same problem, that is until the ballasts got wet and went out. No matter how high I adjust the vertical adjustment, it seems to stop itself from going any further and leaves me with some pretty crappy visibility.
I'm wondering if the problem is the aiming mechanisms themselves?

I'm assuming that ya had the bumper off to install the kit, so ya may need to go back in and check the headlamp assemblies mounting position. Spray some penetrating oil on the adjusters and watch the actual movement of the assembly while adjusting.
If the lamp's aiming was off since ya purchased the car, it's possible that it may have possibly experienced some frontal damage prior to you owning it. Ya never really know for sure ! Ya may have to resort to some sort of shimming process if all else fails ? Good luck.
