Gear shift lights do not illuminate

I'm sure it's something simple like a fuse, but I bought the car used so is it supposed to illuminate?

the ones down by the shifter? If so most likely its the bulb. you have to pop the black trim ring off, then the sliver shift gate off. then pull the prn54321 cover off and that exposes the bulb. grab it and pull up.

Bulb

I had the same exact problem, but I was NOTable to buy the bulb from 2 different car parts store. I don't remember the number, but I am almost sure #74 will NOT fit. You need to go to the dealer to get the bulb.
