Gas Smell...

I am getting a strong gas smell on the outside of the car when I open my door after I turn it off...It used to be not that strong, but now it's very noticeable. How do I check for leaks? How do I check if the charcoal canister it's full? And what if it is full? Is that like a part you replace or can it be "cleaned"?

Thanks

charcol canister should last the life of the car UNLESS you like to go clicky, clicky after the fuel pump self shuts off, when you fill up with gas (aka top off); in which case you eventaly got enough liquid fuel into it for it to smell, only really way to tell if it has liquid fuel in it is to remove it and see how heavy it is
and to repair it, you just replace it and stop clicky, clicky it

it could also be a fuel leak somewhere too idk, a easy way to find it is to go along the fuel line with a lighter, and when it goes you found the leak

LMAO friesm!!

I used to go clicky clicky before, but I stopped doing that after I joined here about a year ago.

Kris, the tank was nearly empty the last time I noticed, but before that it hadn't ocurred to me to see how full the tank was when I noticed the smell.

BTW, where is this canister located?

Thanks again...still laughing!

Sounds like you have more than fuel vapor in your charcoal canister

it doen't really matter how full the gas tank is now you proably already got fuel in the canister so it's going to stay in there
but anyways the canister is underneth on the driver side right in front of the gas tank (rear driver side passenger is sitting right above it)
