Garage Door Programming Homelink

The Acura is a 1999 TL. The garage door opener is a Raynor "Aviator II."

I pressed the inside and outside buttons on the Homelink control, and got the rapidly flashing lights indicating the old codes had been erased.
I held the Raynor remote control within 1 - 3 inches of the Homelink button (No. 1), and depressed both simultaneously. After a long 20 seconds, the Homelink LED flashed rapidly. However the button did not operate the opener; programming failed. I tried this several times.

I then went to the Opener and pressed the Learn button. I pressed the Homelink No. 1 button, held for two seconds, pressed again, held for two seconds, then pressed again. The light was not extinguished on the Learn Button, and the garage door opener did not operate. Programming was a fail.

Is there something I am missing? Is there a definitive list of Homelink systems not compatible with various garage door openers? At my last house, I had no problem programming the car to Genie openers.

Might be. This is the second time I've come across a list purporting to show compatibility with Acura years beginning in 2007, nothing earlier. Thanks for the link.

Something is wrong with that webpage. It also shows "2007 CL" which we all know didn't exist.

I see this page...assuming you followed these directions?

It's been a while but I had issues getting my 2001 to "talk" to my Genie Opener. It took several attempts both erasing old codes and re-learning.

My 2001 owners manual states:

Canadian Owners:
The remote control you are training from may stop transmitting after two seconds. This is not long enough for the HomeLink transmitter to learn the code. Release and press the button on the remote control every two seconds until the transmitter has learned the code.

I realize you're not in Canada but you may want to try this. I'm assuming your opener uses rolling codes.
