Front Lower Ball joints for $428.46 + Tax?
Hello guys
I have a question regarding Front Lower Ball Joints replacement.
I went to dealer today to pick up my car since tranny died on me on 58k.
It took 4 visits for them to replace my tranny.. ..
Anyhow, the dealer was suggesting me to replace Front Lower Ball Joints which will cost me 428.46 + tax.
I sincerely have no idea what the joints are for (FYI, I'm a girl who doesn't know anything about car parts)
I kept getting this weird vibe maybe they're not being honest with me.
Is the price quoted right? or I'm getting ripped off?
Please advise
Thank You

Go to an independant shop, good tire place or similar.
Its not hard to do, if you have the equipment.
Dealer charges higher labor than anyone else.
It took 5 times to fix trans- they would never touch my car again

Front lower ball joints on my car were just replaced. And the thing is that the dealer sells you the ball joint with the knuckle which is all one huge part. If you go to any parts store they sell the ball joints seperately and they cost me 30 bucks each! And the place I took it too installed it on my car for 75 bucks. Shop around though..different shops charge different amounts for labor.. good luck!

Signs and symptoms, see thread;

What year is your car? High mileage? If you have a later model, low milegae, more likely a scam. Get another opinion.
I am surprised of reports of 1999 TLs needing a ball joint. My kids' 90 Legend and 94 Vigor had ball joint problems, much older cars. I don't expect it for my 99 TL at 110K for many more years.
