Front bumper issue

Hey guys,

So, I have a 00 TL, I changed out the ballast and ignitor tonight. When I put everything back together I noticed the left side of the bumper fits a lot tighter than the right side. On the left side theres no gap between the bumper and the headlight. The right side theres a small amount of gap between the bumper and headlight. Also, it takes a lot more effort to close the hood. So, did I misaligned something that would cause those problems?

Thanks in advance.

short answer YES
go back and refit -locate old marks from bolts if possible

did you install aftermarket HID ballast or stock stuff?

I had the same problem when i took out my headlights before.

you have to align the brace that goes across the bumper when ur bumper sites on and the bottom of your headlights screw onto.

you either moved it higher on one side, just mess around with it until your bumper fits properly.

That brace will cause it harder to close the hood also? I did not notice any marks on the brace when i was installing it back on. So basically I have to mess with it until i get it right?

Tom, I got the OEM ballast and ignitor. I got a pretty good deal on all the parts. 218 for 2 ballast, 2 ignitor, and free shipping.

Thanks guys for the info

lol, I don't really have to worry about water getting in. If you live in Arizona, you don't have to worry about getting into the unit. We rarely get rain here, and the original one lasted 11 years without water damage. The only thing i'm worried about is overheating the unit, but 11 years without problem...i'm pretty confident that it would last till i sell the car or drive it to the ground.

Hey guys, i figured i'll post it up here instead of starting up a new thread. So as u know from above, i changed out my ballast and ignitor because my passenger side headlight keeps going out after 10 mins of use more or less from the point i turn it on. When i turn it off and turn it back on the light comes on again and 10 mins +/- it goes off again. After reading many post and research, i come to the conclusion it's the ballast. The problem is still there, the light turns off after awhile...what can the problem be since ballast and ignitor is brand new? I purchased the Kaixen headlights probably 6 months ago more or less. Can it be the bulb itself? (the driver side did the same thing but for a day and it never came back)

Thanks

Try checking the fuses for the headlights?

Fuses are all good, it still look brand new. Plastic casing is clear, and no burnt signs on it. I'm pretty stumped...

So, i finally solved my problem. The light bulb itself was the culprit. Spent 218 dollars on ballast and ignitor for nothing...now i have to spend another 100-200 dollars on bulbs. The Kaixen I had only lasted me 8 months before having issues.

That's a great deal. Where did you find that?

Woah, 100-200 for bulbs? Are you buying from the dealer or what? You can get a pair of quality ones for 25 bucks.

I've been using 6k eBay bulbs for years.

^^ Just saying I might cost me 100-200. I'm actually getting it replaced for free, just need to send it back. If that doesn't workout then imma give HIDextra bulbs a try. Where are you getting it off of ebay?
