Foggy Headlight Covers

A few months ago, I noticed that my headlight covers were very foggy:

At first, I thought it was condensation inside, but I found that when they are wet, they seem to be clearer. Now I think the front covers are just scratched from age. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggested solutions other than replacing the headlights

Thanks a million niju! I did search, but I only found threads on condensation. I will post the results of sanding/waxing.

Forgot to post the results of polishing here. It cleared up a bit after polishing, but within six months, it was right back to the pictures in the OP :-/ I might try a different polish this time.

Buy one of the kits. They come with a UV protectant that helps keep it from happening
