engine has slight stumble when cold
hey everyone i am new to this thread and this place looks great for info. I have a 2003 acura TL which has about 84,000 on it. Now my little issue i have is when i let it for for about 8 hours or so ( or whenever the engine is cold) i get a slight stumble whenever i take off for the first time. After that the car runs great. Any ideas what can be causing this little stumble? thanks
I'm unsure of the previous maintenance done, but at the 80k miles.....it could be a couple of different things. A basic tune-up may take care of the problem, if it's been awhile since the previous service. Perhaps the simple stuff is the culprit.
Start with putting a good quality fuel system cleaner in your car's gas tank when it's less than 1/4 full. Run the car, get into the v-tech a bit to help clean the injectors. There are some "DIY"s for cleaning the EGR passageways within the intake manifold, this may also help the idle. Check the throttle body, as it could be carboned up. Make sure that the coolant level is up. Look over all of the vacuum lines and fittings. A small leak can cause issues.
Replace the spark plugs with the specified "NGK's . Replace the air filter also. If it's not throwing a CEL code, things like the coil packs may be on the edge. Starting fresh with some cleaning and new parts should help eliminate the easy stuff. Hope it works out !

egr system cleanout for sure!!
tb service include iacv- idle air control
new plugs- always help
1 can seafoam to just under half tank of gas
repeat 1 can in half tank
system is now clean from one end to the other
better to use 2 half tanks than 1/4
give the stuff time and HEAT to work!
