Engine Cut-off at only 5500 rpm ???

Engine Cut-off at only 5500 rpm ???
Went for a drive today and the engine Cut-off at only 5500rpm !
Usualy, no problem until 7500 rpm + but for some reason, when I accelerate, it wont go any higher that 5500rpm them the cut-off do is job...
What the hell is that ???
