Emergency Brake Light comes on while driving
I started to notice this a few weeks ago and wanted to ask in this forum for specific advice. I browsed some of the other threads and found most people talking about the rear brake lights. Some have talked about low fluids and I am planning on checking that tonight, I also noticed someone mentioning the e-brake pads located in the rear brake. My issue is not with blubs or the brake lights in the back, it is with the indicator that comes on in the dash board when the emergency brake is applied. Except in my case the indicator comes when the e-brake is not applied.
I recently got my tranny rebuilt because of a broken spring in the 3rd gear, but I don't think that this is related to that or am I wrong?
Any help is much appreciated as always

check the fluid in the master cyl. Also double check that the float moves up and down on the cap

This is happening to me sporadically. I searched and found this thread.
Can anyone tell me how I would go about checking the fluid in the master cyl?
What float am I checking? What cap?
Thank you,
D

there is a round cap on the brake master cylinder located at the rear of engine compartment driver side
wipe crud off it first
twist to the left until it releases
remove and flip upside down- see the float move on arm inside cap? that's for low level warning and causes the dash warning
that gets stuck or sticky
Caution brake fluid EATS car paint- use a rag under cap when testing
the fluid level is observed/ckd thru the side of reservoir, has low and full marks on the engine side of it- full being essentially filled to the top
Fluid level goes down as brakes wear and more fluid moves into the caliper to make up that space
brake fluid should be flushed- completely changed out every year- every 3 years MAX
makes a big difference in the health and brake parts longevity

before removing the res cap- note it has some movement left right- then as you open it, it goes past a lock position
when installing it goes tight then gets to the slight motion area of Done!
make sure to turn it all the way!

TSB 03-029 - Brake System Indicator Comes On and Goes Off
Applies To: 1997–01 Integra – ALL
1999–03 3.2 TL – ALL
2001–03 3.2 CL – ALL

Do the diagnosis. If needed, remove the master cylinder reservoir filter and try cleaning it thoroughly with brake cleaner first, let it dry, and see if the issue is fixed. If cleaning it does not work, then replace the filter.

most would clean the master cyl filter when flushing/changing out the brake fluid.
Or at least
I HOPE most would know to clean the filter screen thing in res when doing the fluid change!!

Zombie thread - can you remove the cap and replace the filter and float WITHOUT affecting the braking? I understand you don't want air getting into the lines, so is this part swap safe to do on its own? I just don't want to bleed the brakes because I popped the master cylinder cap...
Thanks

The master cylinder itself is not pressurized. So long as you don't remove the cylinder completely, you can remove the cap and float, yes.

I had my brake fluid flushed today (Nov 2, 2019), drove the car twice with no issues and then coming home from church only 4 hours after having the brake fluid flushed the VSA and e=brake lights come on. First the e-brake light then the VSA light with the triangle.
What does the float look like?
What I did so far: I opened the cap to the reservoir and there is nice clear brake fluid all the way up to the top. The car drives normal and brakes normal.
