It started last week while i was driving and it seemed like everything in my car (electrical) would shut off navi,gauges,radio, etc, and the engine would stay on. Later that day i took it to the dealer, said it was ignition switch, replaced, and got it back the next day. Everything was fine until tonite when i was out it started agian where the headlights. navi, radio etc turned off. Tommorow back to the dealer, but before i do i was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem or if anyone could shed some light on what it could be? Any replies or ideas are greatly appreciated.


its 02 tl-s my only mods are neon footwells, an amp and a sub.

 

How old is your battery? That could be the problem. Or your alternator, but I would put my money on a bad battery that discharges too quickly.

 

It's not your battery or your alternator. It takes minimal power to power the lights (ever notice when your battery is almost dead the lights always seem to work).

I doubt it's your ignition switch either. The lights should work even when they key isn't in the ignition.

My guess is there is a short somewhere. Fuse issue?

 

how did you hook up your neons?

 

battery was put in late feb of this year.

Neons i had a friend of mine who works at a car electronics place do them.

The ignition switch did need to be replaced bc when u would move the key when the car was started the car would die.

And i just got off the phone with the dealer now there saying that the car isnt giving them the problem? Dont know why but it seems to happen to me when i drive only kinda wierd. they said they drove a good 20 mi and nuthin, but on my way to the dealer aprox. 8 mi it happened about 6 times.
