EGR port cleaning
its a good idea to pre-order a TB to manifold gasket, and an IACV cover gasket
just in case you damage either one--
thats a few days of waiting for parts to arrive while in frustration,,vs spending a few dollars now and being covered
the rest should be fine
get 3 cans or more of non-chlorine carb cleaner
note on top-most cover/gasket to manifold-
that gasket can easily be installed upside down and screws up the engine running- gasket blocks an important port when done wrong!!!
Make sure to set all parts face up or face down,,your choice- as you remove,, so they always go back on exactly the same position... all the bolts in same places etc
make a cardboard template for the bolts--poke holes for bolts in same pattern as they go on engine--note which end is pass or driver side of car etc on cardboard

please read the diy
you remove the entire intake manifold and set on your workbench
there are specific places to shoot carb cleaner and then run a wire coat hanger thru to poke carbon out
NEVER let crud fall in the engine!!! cover it when manifold removed~
if you need to poke the lower hole in block- have a shop vac running to immedialty suck up the stuff as you loosen

yes it is ok to clean the upper manifold with soap and water..after your done if you have an air hose blow it out throughly getting all the ports..just be careful with the carb clean and try and find an o2 sensor friendly one...take off the upper manifold and the egr and clean out the egr hole...i usually spray a little carb clean in and let it sautee for a little bit
our diy suggest non-chlorine (sensor safe) carb cleaner plus a wire coat hanger,
and use of compressed or forced air thru the manifold after rinsing- with moving the manifold around to get trapped pockets of water out
it would be REALLY bad to have water in there after its installed on engine!!!
will not be a pretty start up~~
