ECU error code

Hey guys, my '00 TL has a ECU error code of P1607 which has something to do with ECM/PCM Internal Circuit Failure. But I haven't got a clue of what that is? Are any of you guys familiar with this problem?

Hows the trans acting?
The PCM Power Control Module is part of that
There is a 7 year + 9 month/ 109k miles trans warranty on gen2 cars
You are pushing the time limit but acura is pretty good on taking care of those people too~
Go meet the service manager and ask about it- and ask if the head tech can go for a quick ride with you to check the car for symptoms

Did you have the 2004 recall for install of trans oil jet kit done?
call acura 1-800-382-2238x5 and ask them about that-
and ask what is the date of first use on your car- thats when warranty starts

With any luck- you still need the recall thing done and when they inspect inside with a camera they see damage,,, thats a warranty replace trans- and pcm situation
Never hurts to go ask
Bypass service WRITER and speak ONLY with service MANAGER- thats who has authority- writers just quote from the book of NO!!!!

remember codes are clues not diagnosis

Reset the ECU and see if the code comes back. (do that by pulling the clock backup fuse on the passenger side dash fuse panel) for 1 min or so. After that put it back in and start the car and see if it comes back. If it does it probably means you need a new ECU. If it does comeback your best bet is to bring it to the dealer so they can double check and scan the ECU with a live data recorder.

Thanks for your help guys. Well, my transmission works fine. It's my second one, I replaced it when it was around 90k now its at 100k. If I can find sometime tomorrow, I will try to reset the ECU and see if it comes back or not. Then I'll call Acura. But there is something else that I left out. About a few months ago, when coming to a red light or stop sign, my car just shuts off all of a sudden, all the power shuts off for a second then it turns back on, the rpm goes back to zero, time, radio, etc. Sometimes it comes back on automatically and sometimes I have to start it with the key. But other than that it works fine and lately it hasnt been doing that at all. I thought it was my battery but then if it were my battery then shouldnt it get worse over time since I haven't changed it yet. But that's not the case. I read up something about this and it seems a few others are experiencing the same problem but I haven't come across a solution yet. A few said it was the ignition switch?? Also would this have to do anything with the ECU, since the P1607 error code relates to some internal circuit failure and this seems like some electrical problem??

the 99s had a recall on the ignition switch and free replacement
Check the doorsill sticker/plate for date of production- month/ year, like 09/99
Maybe it was a part of that recall even though labeled an 00-
CALL ACURA 1-800-382-2238x5 and give VIN number- ask about any recall or warranty open on the car

Do you have several keys on the key ring? These are not the strongest thing in the world, and when you add lateral strain it can cause play in the assembly leading to intermittant cicuit contact...like what yours sounds like its doing
The ONLY way to tell a battery condition is to test it, load test with lights, check starter draw and alt output and battery resting volts
Any major parts store has a machine they will hook up for free and tell you whats up
May need new ground NEG battery cables - or has loose connection somewhere
Hows the battery look? corroded fittings, cables brittle?
That stuff does need to be replaced after several years

You can replace the switch yourself for 40 bucks if thats what it needs
If you have some great warranty that covers all- let the dealer fix
If not- do some poking around and have azone check it out for you electrical wise

You take your car in to delaer on a saturday and its not going to be the top tech on duty- its saturday!!!!
