Folks,
I installed a set of new Brembo OEM rotors for the front and got EBC Green Stuff pads. Had the anti-squeal applied and babied the brakes for about 500 miles. I drove normal the last 500 miles or so, but now:
* I get what seems to me to be excessive dust. I have to wipe my wheels down every other day to keep up with the dust. I do have new wheels that have a lip, so I'm not sure if my dusting is normal and its just the lip is catching it more than my stock OEM 17" wheels with no lip would??
* I get a slight squeal with light pressure when initially slowing down from about 35mph, but it goes away with slightly more brake pressure and doesn't squeal as the car gets slower or while coming to a complete stop.
I did some searching on bedding them in, but for those who have EBC, did you try bedding them in? Did it help your problem?
I think the process involves finding an open road, get up to 60 mph and then slow down hard but don't stop..let the brakes cool and then do it again around 40mph..let them cool....then do it again at 20mph...then drive for a long time avoiding using the brakes if possible. Would this process help eliminate some of this dusting?
Are EBC brakes ceramic or semi-metallic? I thought they were ceramic. I NEVER had dust with my stock pads..I mean, none that I could see at all even after a couple weeks of driving!!
Thank goodness I have two coats of "Wheel Wax" on, I just have to wipe them with a terry cloth towel and all the dust is removed, but doing that every other day is getting real annoying!!
I thought EBC would be a good pad, but now wondering if I should of just got stock pads...

Sowi Roja u tiga now
well i know that there is one more possibility. if your rims are powdercoated then they will pick up dust like a mf. I had some powder coated rims and them bitches were always dirty even with new brakes.
but i know the feeling i have rotora rotors and pads and the front is like gunmetal i just sometimes give up cleaning it.

Stock pads are ceramic to reduce dust, also reduces grip force
DO the bedding in as REQUIRED on your pads- they need to heat up properly- follow the instructions because what you listed is not the real procedure, and that cleans a layer of material off the pad and deposits a tranfer film layer onto the rotor, very important
They will dust more than OE, but a little wax on the rims helps a lot
Your other choice is HAWK HPS pads, less dust- excellent grip, I get no noise at all

My greens dust less than the oem pads.
I read the customer reviews on tirerack and some said it takes a couple months but the dusting diminishes over time. many said they were disappointed with them..if it doesn't get better..i may go back to oem...i have the wax on and the dust comes right of the chrome with no problem. I can't find the bedding process for these pads...they say to drive normal for first few hundred miles..did that already...

The break in procedure after running a few hundred miles to get some heat cycles in the pads is generally this
Find an open road with no traffic,
At 35 mph make heavy but no ABS, slow downs to 20 mph then right back to 35 and brake 20. Each time use a little more pedal effort. Do about 4 to 6 times, drive a few minutes without using brakes to cool, then repeat process at 45 to 20 and then drive 20 minutes at freeway speed to cool everything back down easy. Do not come to a stop during this or you will put a hot spot that must then be cleaned with another procedure
If you used anti squeal on the backing plates and contact points- this should fix you up

Thanks 01!! I'll give that a shot...now, if I can find a road to do this on!
