dumb mistake

so last night i left my windows slightly open so as not to fog up in the morning on the way to work, but overnight there was a huge THUNDERSTORM!!!! my seats were all soaked, i got out and wiped it down with a towel and dried it up as much as i could, but now there's a weird smell. I'm assuming its the foam under the seat, but do any of you guys know how to get rid of that smell? or does it just go away when it all dries out?

Wierd smell could be wet leather, carpet, insulation, foam, glue, MOLD, etc. etc.

You're best bet is to try and get things dried out as soon as possible... smell may/may not go away depending on what is causing it... I'd pull the seats out and try and dry them outside the vehicle and see what else got wet inside the vehicle...

Good luck.

The important thing it to act quickly. Mold can start growing in as little as 24 hours.

Get that thing dry. Leave your window and moonroof open when its warm and sunny and let it evaporate. A friend of mine had that happen and left it. Now his car smells horrible.

I kinda had that problem but it wasnt a huge storm but nonetheless my seats were wet. I dried it off and turned on the seat warmers. Then I sprayed the seat with anti bacteria spray to prevent any mold, that and to help the smell. My SRS light went on, i had to reset the code and it never came back. Everything should be ok now. fyi, in case you want to try that

if you know what you're doing. remove the seats and remove the leather and foam. then clean and dry it.

go somewhere with a lot of sun. leave all your windows open, and leave all your door wide open. let the sun do the works.

There could be water in the carpet and under it now. I'd suggest to look into that also.
