Dry and Brittle Valve Cover Gaskets

I am doing valve cover gaskets on my Acura 2000 TL and the gaskets are hard to remove. They are breaking and tearing everytime I try to remove them.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I soak the valve cover in a solvent with hopes that the gasket will easily peel off.

What can I do?

they make actual gasket remover spray which softens and loosens old material
see any parts store

be really careful with razor blade on remnants--any nick in the aluminum can turn into a leak past the new gasket

dont forge to clean the egr port and passage thru the intake manifold while you have it off for valve adjustment

service TB- IACV while its on the bench too
