2002 TL Various Radio Issues

Wanted to throw a thread up and pick your guys brains and see if you have any thoughts. A few years back I had a problem with the radio where I couldn't use the steering column controls to control the radio. The buttons wouldn't ever do what they were supposed to do. Volume up would sometimes to volume down, down would do up, change stations would sometimes work, sometimes turn it off. Regardless, I found that there was a Service bulletin about it (TSB 03015) that a copper ring in the column was losing contact. I took it into the dealer and they were able to fix it, but it cost a hundred or two bucks if I recall.

Since then it's been working fine, but over the last month I'm starting to have problems with the head unit. Volume up/down knob will sometimes set the volume the wrong way, buttons will work sometimes and other times not, and even on occasion the radio will actually stay on after I've turned the car off and pulled the key from the ignition. Only way to fix it is to pull the fuse.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm sure it's just a short or something grounding out somewhere, but I'd hate to bring it to the dealer and get another couple hundred bill.

what have you done that would cause a ground to have problem?
that same part may have failed again

a stereo shop over the dealer for this one
maybe the head unit is failing
there are options on its replacement,,depends if nav/electronic ac controls or not

Yeah, I haven't done anything to the car other than change the oil in the last few years, and all the electrical is original with the car, so nothing about that's ever been changed.
