Drivers seat wiring diagram

I took my seat out to fix the heating element but after I put everything back together the bar that controls the forward and backward motion of the seat is not working, but the other 2 controls work fine. I double checked to make sure everything is connected and still doesn't work.

I kinda rushed into things and didn't label ALL the wires but I tried over and over and cant get it to work. If anyone has a diagram or had this problem and knows what I might have done wrong help a desperate guy out cause I sure as hell will label everything next lesson learned. I guess a wiring diagram or if someone knows the correct wires just for that one control I would be golden, thank in advance for any help.

Why did you cut or take any wires off? Every thing should be just unplugged.

I didn't cut anything, all the wires are plugged in and everything works except the forward and backward control. Thats why im scratching my head cause there is no extra wires everything is plugged in. I tried moving plugs around but no luck. Here is a picture of the mess, but im almost positive everything is plugged correctly.

If I remember correctly there are 2 connectors that will fit more than one socket. Check/reverse the ones to the seat back recline motor & one of the connectors to the fore/aft/up/dn. switch on the side.

Well I checked that missing plug and it has no pins in it so im almost positive nothing goes there but I could be wrong.

Yes I got it to work, but I tried finding that hi temp wire at a few places and no one knew what the hell I was talking about. So all I did was strip about a inch off both ends of the burnt wire, twist them together nice and tight and wrapped it with some electrical tape.

I enjoyed it for about 3 months and then it went out again. I haven't bothered to try and fix it again, and to be honest I wish I had never tried cause I scratched the living shit out of the plastic by the door even though I was as careful as possible, then the seat not working. Iv been driving around for 2 months with seat not even bolted down.

There was a step no one mentioned that i learned the hard way was to make sure the seat is in the middle when you try and take it out of the car. When I moved the seat forward to remove the rear bolts the rails stick out the rear while the seat is forward makes the seat longer and harder to remove from the car. Now since I cant get the motor to move the seat its pushed all the way forward and I cant drive that way, so the seat is unbolted and pushed back.

Well, the seat motors are just plain motors after all. Why can't you just apply a +12V battery power to the motor directly to move the seat ? If the seat moves forward when applying the +12V, swap the two wires and then the seat will move backwards. It is extremely dangerous to drive sitting on an unsecured seat.

Agree, if you get in a wreck you're unsecured, much more likely to be severely injured, or worse.

I wish it was that easy, I just tried swapping around wires again and no luck. I mean there is only so many combos of wires. Is there anything else it could be maybe a fuse or what not. Im tired of this problem and want to get it fixed.

Did you try what I said in post 7? Have you checked all the fuses?

Well the only fuse I found was under the hood labeled seat motor and it looks fine. I messed around with it again and now the seat does nothing. I removed the computer board for the seat control just to see if anything with burnt looked fine.

I did move some wires around and all that did was make the seat not work. When i put the wires back everything worked but the forward and backward. So now my question, is the passenger seat wiring the same as the driver? I don't really want to remove it unless it is, this has been the most stressful DIY I have ever done in my life.

Check it with a meter. I've seen fuses that 'looked fine' but weren't.

If the fuse was bad wouldn't both seats not work, cause the pass seat is fine? I will go buy some fuses just to be sure, whats a couple of bucks anyways. Im gonna give up here in the next week if i cant get it to work. I have never been so frustrated with a car in my life.

"Slide the bar forward"- You mean the switch? Is there something jamming the motion causing the motor to overload & blow the fuse?

Yes the switch, every time i push the switch i hear a pop and I check the fuse and it gets blown. Iv already gone through a whole pack of them. All other seat functions work except the slide.

I mean the seat is not bolted down, i did have a mag flash light propping the seat up so i can work on it, i tried removing it to see of thats the problem and its not. I cant really think of what it could be. Im sure im boring you guys with this, but i will be dammed if i cant get this crap to work.

Sounds as if something is preventing the motor from moving whatever it's supposed to move. You could try unplugging ea. motor in turn to figure out if that's it or not. If so & after you determine which one then you could remove it, apply (fused, protected) power to it on the bench to see if works when dismounted. Or, maybe the switch is bad. Or, could a wire have been misrouted and damaged/shorted during all that movement? Check all the wires for damage.
