Driver side squeak
Driver side squeak
I have read similar posts with the same squeak problems in the front suspension, however my problem differs slightly... Both of my CV shafts are less than a year old, both upper ball joints/arms are months old, and I have new wheel bearings - all installed by knowledgable mechanics. So this squeak around inside the wheel area started when it got cold, went to go get it checked out and of course I could NOT get it to squeak, shook it, push it, drove it - nothing. Couple weeks later squeeking resumed and hasn't gone away since. Now this morning I'm squeeking my way to work and I feel a slight jiggle, not enough to see the steering wheel visibly shake, but enough to feel.. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
Inspect your lca bushings(inner and outer), and your sway bar bushings. Also your brake pads have a little wear indicator tab that will produce a constant squeal/sqeak while driving so sheck those as well. Look for any evidence of parts rubbing together etc. Also you could check out this video by etcg to give you an idea where to start.
Thank you for the quick reply! I forgot to mention I had installed new calipers, Brembo rotors and pads with the CV shafts. So bad/worn bushings could cause a jiggle? Just want to drive as little as possible if this is a severe problem that would cause wheel falling off or something ridiculous
Hey Brandle34, You've replaced alot of the front-end parts, IMO....the noise is probably more of a nuisance than a threat of danger with driving the car, considering all the previous work done.
The lower control arm, sway bar bushing or end link could be causing the squeak on cold mornings. It's like....what else is left, except maybe re-checking the brakes.
Spray some WD40 on the rubber bushings and see if the noise temporarily goes away. If it doesn't, maybe the shock's top hat bushing is worn ? Basically, the process of elimination !

Haha I know! My TL-S has 171k on her.. Already replaced the tranny and the whole front end basically.. The lower ball joints seem to be the culprit - brought it to my usual shop and they said that's where it seems to be coming from so after I replace those I should have a brand new Acura! Well after I replace the rear sway bar bushings.... Oh and that jiggle I was having went away and we assumed it was some snow/ice in the rim cause she goes straight down the road now. Thanks for the replies!
