Door Handle Problem

Today when I opened the driver door to my 03 TL something snapped or sounded like it snapped and now the handle on the outside is really loose and whenever I pull the handle on the inside, the outside one moves as well. I saw another topic with the same problem but no one answered so hopefully someone can help me here.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how to fix it and if I can do it myself or I need to take it into a shop?

maybe one of the metal rods that connects teh handle to the lock poped out of place. pull the door lining off and check it out.

By door lining do you mean the door panel on the inside of the car? I just want to make sure

Yes, that's the only way to look at what's going on inside the door.
