Do I need a new ballast?
Do I need a new ballast?
I have a 2003 TL, and when the lights go on they wil randomly turn off. When I manually turn the lights off and back on they will remain lit for a bit, but will go out again. I have read it may be the ballast. How do I know for sure, and if I need to replace it should I get the conversion kit?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check the electrical connections and grounds. Inspect for signs of moisture or corrosion.
Our original "HID" low beam headlamps are susceptible to various problems as they get older. The subject has been well documented and tons of info is available by searching previous threads. Check the 2nd Gen's "DIY" sticky for more info. The aftermarket replacement kits are the recommended fix for our old ailing HID set-up. Inexpensive and much more dependable compared to repairing with OEM parts.
