Different Sized Rotors

I did a quick search and managed to come up with zilch on the subject, so hopefully haven't missed something really obvious posted on the forums.

Here's my problem. I was installing new rotors and pads on my 99 TL this weekend, and all was well on the drivers side. But when I tried to do the passenger side, the caliper was too small for the rotor. Turns out the rotor and caliper on the passenger side are smaller than on the drivers side. Both my and my buddy who were working on it had never heard anything of the sort. I double checked with my local shop and they assured me that the rotors they sold me are correct.

I wanted to check with you guys as to whether or not this was normal or whether somewhere down the road, the wrong caliper (and in turn, rotor) was installed on my car. This is a Canadian car, not US.

It's also worth mentioning that the dust shield came in contact with the new rotor. so it seems that purhapse the entire hub was from the wrong car. The car does not pull either way when braking. it stays dead center, even with my hands off the wheel.

Thanks in advance.

The front rotor pairs must be the same size. The rear rotor pairs must also be the same size even though smaller than the front pairs. Unless they are directional (slotted or drilled), the front L and R rotors are sharing 1 part code, and the rear L & R rotors are also sharing 1 part code.

They (both sides) should be the same size.

That's what I figured. Now I have to find the shop that installed the wrong calipers.... oh joy.

Are you sure you pushed the piston in all the way and that they are infact different sized?

Yeah, the piston is all the way back. even without any pads in, and the piston all the way back, the "C" shape of the caliper would not go over the rotor. Comparing the two, it's obvious that the rotors are significantly different. The same goes with the calipers
