Question Did I do the Seafoam right?

Maybe someone can help me here. I just did the Seafosm treatment just as it was written in the DIY post. I only used about 1/3 of a can through the intake line, the other 2/3rds I dumped into the gas tank with only 2 or 3 gallons remaining. I didn't get a ton of black smoke pouring out. Just a little gray smoke at first. The car rides fine. Did I do something incorrect? Does that mean the engine want full of deposits? I expected a huge black cloud to engulf my neighborhood! Does everyone get the black smoke? Should I have added more to the intake? The only thing I noticed was that while it was sucking up the foam, the idle was increasing and decreasing, but then it idled evenly after I reconnected the hose. Your thoughts are welcome. .......

White smoke is normal. Black rarely if ever occurs during the intake process.

So, to answer your question: Everything should be ok, provided that you used the most recent methods advised for "Seafoaming".

I ALWAYS use a full can in the vac line and 1 in the gas tank when i use it. I dont see 1/3 a can doing a whole lot for cleaning.

Thumbs up

I followed the DIY to the letter. Mayve ill try again with a good 1/2 a can. Just did an oil change, so after 3000 miles ill do a 1/2 a can in the crank case, 1/2 through the port and a 1/2 with the 1st 8 gallons of gas.

If ya have not cleaned the EGR passageways yet, it may be worth the while to check the site's "DIY" sticky concerning the procedure for this. It's not all that difficult and will clean out the intake's carbon build-up which sometimes causes a poor idle. These cars are all prone to this problem.

I wasnt reading. Tomorrow, I'm giving it a full can in the Vacum! Next weekend going to take a shot at replacing the plugs! (Your talking to a guy that isn't very mechanically inclined.). Today's work was a major breakthrough for a guy like me. Pulling out hoses, replacing them with tubes! I haven't even changed my own oil since I was in my teens (I'm 50 now). Makes it alot easier with the diy threads. I love this website !!!
