diagnostic adaptor

diagnostic adaptor

i went to autozone to have them hook up their diagnostic computer to get my error codes and they said that i have to have a female adapter and that it is supposed to be hidden in my car somewhere... any idea where or where they just being too lazy to help me out or not know what they were doing?

The ODB connector is behind a removeable plastic panel under the "not an ashtray" forward of the shift lever.

And I should have typed "OBD" which is an acronym for On Board Diagnostics.

the smog test tech reached in and snapped out the liitle ~box~ under the not an ashtray- and in front of the shifter- between the seat heat buttons
It looked like putting car in 1st allowed easier access.
They ran the entire Ca. dyno rolling wheels based Smog test with the code reader hooked up and the tailpipe sniffer going. Readings are amazingly low- like allowable 45- average 4 measured 0 or 1
Even better than its last test! Seafoam and NGK- rock on!
