I sorta have that problem too. At first I thought my cup holder wouldn't close and then I press the front part of it down because that is where the latch is and it closed. Then when I press the button it doesn't really open. Its feels like stuck/sticking together. So as you press the button down to open the latch, use another finger and pull the left side up (pull up towards the front).

Both of you guys. This is an easy fix. Problem is the gears have come unwound inside or are offset. There's a diy to get out the rear console. Once out the cupholders come out easy. The gears are on the front towards the windshield. Take off the cover and you can see how the mechanism works.

This has been covered numerous times.

Yup, pretty easy fix. Works until you spill more sticky crap in your cup holder! DOH!

Pics would be great, the right side of my cup holder cover no longer seems to be spring loaded?

not sure, i think i paid 120 total? any recent handbrake swappers chime in. the most expensive parts are the cupholder and the handbrake itself.

i had to do mine for the 6speed swap. it was first thing i ordered and installed
