There is a black plastic "pulley" in the throttle body assembly where the cable from the cruise control connects. Interestingly, it is right beside, and very similar to, the "pulley" where the regular throttle cable connects, yet that pulley is metal; makes you wonder what they were thinking.
I have now personally seen 3 2003 TLs where this plastic piece has broken to the point where it can no longer hold the end of the cruise control cable.
I was able to pull a good plastic pulley from the wrecker, but when I did it I realized how finicky the job of replacing it on my car will be. There are three springs (all with some amount or pre-load) and at least three different types of washers.
Does anyone have step-by-step instructions for R&R of this section of the throttle body?
I think if you search there was a thread someone made where they fixed the plastic piece by epoxying it back together I believe.. I also had part of my plastic piece break off and the cable kept coming off the 'cam or pulley'. I was able to rig it with a piece of bailing wire and it has been holding for 3yrs now
I was hoping no adjustment would be necessary; but if it is, thank-you for this.
What I plan to do is replace the part labeled "B" in your diagram (top-left corner). This part is on a shaft with a whole bunch of other parts some of which are spring-loaded. I was hoping for detailed instructions on how to remove the parts from the shaft and put them back properly so I can replace my broken "part B".
Could I slip in another question please? My seat-belt is not re-coiling well, so I took out the assembly and came across a warning sticker not to disassemble further because the assembly might explode. Seems hard to believe....any thoughts?
There's nothing on that part B over haul. They're service as a unit.
SEAT BELT
Life time warranty in the U.S. for usefulness of the car.
Otherwise service by cleaning the shoulder anchor rolling pin with rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl alcohol). Basically clean it so it does not create drag.
Do not open the bottom seat belt recoil assy. There may be a charge (explosive) to tighten the slack in the seat belt when the air bag goes off. In an attempt to keep you upright so you don't break your neck on the air bag. Not 100% sure but there's wires going to it.
Hi Bob, Thanks again for all your great help here!!
I will avoid trying to dismantle the seatbelt assembly for safety reasons, I will contact Acura/Honda Canada and see what they say.
Again, thanks for the info on the cruise control unit; but it is the plastic disk where the other end of the cruise control cable connects to that I need to replace. If you look at figure 1 in your most recent post you can see where the two cables (one from the cruise control unit and the regular throttle cable) connect to the engine's throttle body. That is the section I would like to take apart. I was able to do it easily to get the good part off the wreck, but I'm not sure I have the confidence to replace it properly on my car. I'm starting to think Acura does not want that assembly(like the seat-belt) serviced.
Again, thanks for your amazing contributions to this forum
