Courtesy/Map Lights Not Working!?!?
Hey Guys,
So I was installing my XM tuner in the sunglass holder today, I went ahead and tapped the power wires for the map lights as power for the unit.....Now none of the courtesy lights in the car work lol....the unit is not tapped into the power supply for the map lights anymore, I checked every fuse b/c there is not one labeled for the courtesy/map lights, even called Acura and they were no help....Everything else is working...
Am I missing something fairly obvious here? I don't see what the problem could be if not a fuse. Help me out here, guys!

Really?...lol...I didn't know there was a fuse panel on the passengers side - just the one on the drivers side and the one under the hood....and yes the dash/instrument lights are in fact working...going to go and check the other panel now
LOL...that was the culprit...
Another question though, should I replace the 7.5amp fuse for that circuit with a higher amperage one, say 10amps, b/c there will be more drain on that circuit now with the XM unit drawing power as well as the lights?

I dont think so. But Im not sure. If you do want to do that you should check how much amperage is going to the fuse when everything is hiooked up. If its to small it will blow prematurely, if its too big then it will blow something further down the line.
For the guys that hardwired their radar detectors did they use a bigger fuse?
If not then I think you should be ok.

Thanx, Murky...so I've been tooling around for the past hour or so -went to Autozone, bought a bunch of fuses....I don't think I can tap inot the map lights for power. The fuse in the DC adapter that came with the unit is 2amps...the fuse link I installed keeps blowing while drawing power off of this circuit b/c the fuse for the lights is 7.5amps...so I have to run power from an unused circuit in the fuse box and splice-in a 2amp fuse link...I'll post pics and updates tonight or tomorrow when I finish the project.
