Could this be my tranny?

Hopefully someone can help me with this before I take it to the dealership and they charge me my first born to look at it.

When I am driving at certain speeds, my RPM's fluctuate. Just about 20 minutes ago I was driving steady down my street at 50km/h the RPM's were jumping from 1200 to about 1800. It happened at around 80km/h too. I just called a buddy of mine and he said my tranny is slipping and I'm screwed because I have over 230000km on my 2002tl-p.

Has anyone experienced this fluctuation in RPM? If so, what should I do?

Please help!!!

230000km=142922miles
So does the fluctuating RPM sound like it could be my tranny or does it sound like something else?

I'm not really sure man. I mean with our cars track record, it could very well be your tranny. You should feel fortunate that it has lasted as long as it has. When my tranny blew it was right now & kinda violent. There was no gradual failure.
I do notice on my 2003tls my rpms fluctuate @ times, why i don't know. I'd say keep drivin it as long as you can. When she goes she goes. Sorry i'm not much help.

I doubt that it would be your tranny.
