confused

Noticed a noise while driving. Ended up being my rear bearings. I bought a new wheel hub assembly but it won't fit? Wondering if any part of the old one is capable of being the culprit?

where/what brand part did you buy?
how were the rear/park brake shoes?? those seem to take a beating in the replacement process = often replaced with hub assembly

is there some element of using a press or otherwise pounding the bearing in or out --that a new hub assembly would simplify?

I read past post where the park brake shoes can be damaged?? not sure if that was an excess bearing wear issue- or brute force method of repair?

Its been a few years since I changed one but if I recall the rear bearings are pretty cheap as an assembly and they are pretty easy to change out

? i pulled the hub off, replaced the bearing put it back on. Only issue i had was the outer bearing race was stuck to the shaft. Took a little chisel to the back of it to get it started and it slid right off and the new one went on. Im wondering if that is his issue (as i have seen others with it) and why i asked for pics.

I need my front wheel bearings replaced. My mechanic told me that on these cars sometimes he has to get a torch to cut the hub assembly off because sometimes some galling somewhere in the assembly makes it impossible to remove the bearing.

Have any of you heard about this?

It's pretty common for half of the inner race to stick to the hub/flange. It is a press fit on the front, so this is normal. I usually cut a small groove in the race with a torch, and chisel it off.

^ Indeed I did mine about a year ago.. Both front wheel races sticked to the shaft. But I used a circular saw to grind a side carefully until they snap* once you hear that distinctive noise you know they will slide off easily.
