Is this a common problem with the 2g TL?

Anyway I came home from the bank and when I pulled it and turned down the music I noticed that my car was making a loud whine so I pulled to the side, popped the hood to check I first thought maybe it was the belt, then I walked away and noticed something dripping, I didn't have the A/C on so I was like "WTF?" I checked and it was flipping power steering fluid. Is this a common thing or what? I haven't checked what exactly is wrong but I think it's just a hose.

Well I just got back from the store, and I took a quick look, the leaking has stopped, aka it ran out of fluid lol. So I have to go and pick up the ramps from a friend and drive it up to check the hoses, I really hope it's a quick fix I still owe $400.00 for my NYC trip.

Also no I didn't drive the car without PS fluid to the store lol, I took my sisters MB

Another update- My brother jacked the car up and we took a look under, turns out that it's a hose/line whatever which is behind some kind of pan or something that's covering it to not damage the hose in the first place lol.

Anyways I filled it up with some more fluid and drove it onto the side of my house, it's a bad patch of grass with mulch on it, so it can drip all it wants.

Going to have to take my brother F-150 to work today but it's all good, tomorrow I'll take it to the shop and have the entire front end inspected (the car is a 7 owner, double salvage title) so it may need more work. I know 100% the front stabilizer bar needs replacing.

Here's a pic of the car, thought it would look nice in the sun like that.

drove to the repair shop yesterday, steering was fine in till I actually arrived, which was good.

Now today I called him and he says that quite a lot of lines were damaged so it's some kind of set he ordered from Acura as he doesn't carry them, pretty much in total with parts+labor+tax=about $330.00... =( that's like, type-s taillights and stuff arrrggh =(.

I would, I honestly would lol. But this is hard to do without any way to lift the car up to get in there, idk it seems like somewhat hard work as you have to take some kind of casing off, basically when we were looking at it something was in the way of the hoses, idk if it unscrewed or not.

This was a somewhat more major thing, but since I really need a car and can't mess around I wanted it done ASAP. Anything else that breaks... minus the tranny or something deep in the engine, I will do it myself... I don't know anything about wrenching on cars but shit, only way I'll learn is to actually do it myself.

yeah well it was almost, airbags both deployed, the car had to be towed away.

"Accident reported in Erie County, involving front impact it hit a motor vehicle. Vehicle disabled Vehicle towed, airbag deployed."
^that's the second accident

The first accident was on 05/02/2001, at 2,759 miles on the baby in Virgina... all it says is "TOTAL LOSS VEHICLE" New owner reported, Salvage Title/Certificate issued.

It was then fixed up nicely and at 7/7/2004 at 20k miles it was issued a Rebuilt title.

$4,000.00, it was still in good condition at the time, and it was checked out as well, the only mechanical problem atm is stabilizer bar, right before I got it the tranny was fixed, the car shifts beautifully.

^^also I bought it at 71k miles on it, so the engine is still mighty, I plan to keep the car in till it pretty much dies, I really like it.

If you treat it right and not rip it (like I do, but once I put mine on springs, I'll take it easy) and put the right oil in, basically just do good maintenance the engine will last you 200-300k miles, but at the same time you have to think about the tranny that won't make it, if you keep changing the tranny then it'll last you a long time before major engine failure. Tranny isn't worth changing if you're not covered... IMO.

Ramps or a floor jack, neither are that expensive and something every car owner should have.

We have both lol, I mean we did jack it up, about to put it on the ramp in till, we realized we didn't know what the heck to even do.

That's my problem... I suppose we could have asked AZ about some help or even Googled the problem, but yeah still I'm not that "mechanically developed" to change something major like the hoses.

IDK anymore tbh, my next install will be LED taillights, that will be my next DIY after 6000k HIDS. I suck.

Changing hoses should not be a major job. Just take your time & get some help if you need it. Once you take on & finish that you'll gain confidence.

hey yall dont be mad because this guy has got money to burn and no will to fix his own transportation, maybe he is a yo yo champion of his town and doesn't want fluids under his finger nails, you have to be symPATHETIC to his perspective, that why he wrote this post, so people will feel bad for him, come on guys give him a break, maybe he's a really good stunt driver, I hear that pays pretty good, in turn he can afford the mechanics and really has no need for any technical sense or tools of any kind

I'm not mad- and I don't think anybody else is who responded. Just trying to be encouraging. If he doesn't want/can afford to hire it done, so be it. It's America....

^ Yea, like totaledTL said, changing hoses shouldn't be a major job. Just give it a try. Come back and post if you run into issues.

I remember people coming for help in the middle of timing belt changes and power steering racks replacements!! They all got through it fine.

GL with it.
