cold shifting

I have 99 tl, why is it that when the car is not warmed up yet (the first 5-10 min. of driving) there is a longer delay in the shifting? UP or DOWN, and sometimes it hits a little harder into gear when the delay is at a certain rpm. I mean I know a lot of you will say "tranny is going," but it almost seems like its electrical. If it is electrical what adjusts the shifting? Or is it ALL done by the ECU and there is nothing you can do?

on my 01 its part of the engine warm up system to hold the trans slightly higher rpm in 1 and 2 to make the engine heat quickly, then it can get off the full rich start mode for the fuel injection and go into lean economy mode

Should only take a few minutes to get temp indicated, and the system is off cold start

the manual says that harder and delayed shifting is normal until the car warms up.

Also the Torque Converter won't lock up until the engine is warmed up.

What happens when the car is warmed up

Although my car is warmed up the shifting from park to drive is hard and sometimes the car wont kick into gear.

I changed the trany last year and the fluid (level is good) as well. What else could be the problem?
