Codes P0420 and P0730. Need help
I hooked up a scanner and came up with these codes. The first says catalyst system efficiency below threshold(bank 1) and the second says incorrect gear ratio. Is the first an 02 sensor? Pre or post cat if so? How do you get an incorrect gear ratio? Help appreciated!

for the p0420 your basically goin to have to clear the code and drive the car. the code is for the catalytic converter. if it somes back on then you need a cat, if not then it was just in intermittent failure.
for p0730 if it comes back on your most likely goin to need a transmission. acura recommends to not waste money on unnecessary solenoid replacement if the vehicle has any of the following:
• The odometer has more than 20,000 miles.
• The vehicle has a reman A/T.
• The ATF is contaminated with friction material
or metal.
• The axle seals are leaking or the differential
carrier bearings are loose.
• The A/T makes grinding or whining noises.
if by some miracle your car doesnt meet this criteria you have to check the pressure for each gear. if their at spec your going to have to replace shift solenoid B, A and C, and the A/T Clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B.

If you still having problem with p0420, I have change 2 O2 sensor (front & rear) it all set for last 500 miles, before that I erase the code and the light came back within 1 or 2 days. I got my Denso O2 from amazon for both $115 shipped and part#Denso 234-4096 Oxygen Sensor(front) & Denso 234-4621 Oxygen Sensor(rear) or you can buy & get info direct from Denso.com price are the same.
reason for going with Denso? what I heard is Denso suply O2 sensor oem for our Acura tl, so I did not need any modification and just plug right fit in. Hope it help.
