Code 1491

Code 1491 I took my car to autozone to find out why my cel was glowing. It came back P1491. I called the dealer and he said that my egr valve needed to
be replaced. Anybody else get this code and had the egr valve replaced and the problem was fixed?

How many miles on your car? You might be able to get it replaced under warranty. I believe there was a TSB for the EGR valve.

Do NOT replace the EGR valve until you clean the port at the end of the intake manifold. I've done mine twice (the 2nd time better than the 1st), both times a 1491 code. It's a 2 hr job at most if you're mechanically inclined at all. Do a search on this forum for step-by-step instructions with pics.

look in the DIY section of gen2, see thread Thermoblock install /EGR cleaning
You remove the intake manifold (easy with basic skills/tools) and clean the egr passages of the built up carbon blockage
couple hours total labor time
