Exclamation Brakes And Rotors Help

I recently purchased a 03 tlp. about a month in, my brakes began to grind really bad. so i put the non-squeek treatment on the pad, well that didnt work. so i replaced tha pads.

Now when i brake, my whole car vibrates like crazy. sooo i have my front rotors replaced.... same thing happens. Next i replace the rear rotors and pads after a couple of days. that doesnt help at all. so i did research and was informed that acura dealerships actually press thier rotors on.

so i torque the rotors to spec. still doesnt help. soo now im stuck with living with it or having the dealer charge me close to 1100 dollars to change and turn them with there special machine.

has this happend to anyone before? is there any other way of fixing this issue?

i thought it could have been bushings but it i can apply my breaks just slightly and i get the same result....

any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you put new pads on worn out scarred/grooved rotors?
and then put new rotors on, and used those -now messed up pads- is that the order?
What brand names of parts did you use?
The wheels need to be tighted to 80 foot pounds of torque in an even-equal manner in a specific pattern- that can warp brand new rotors
what do you mean you went back and torqued the rotors to spec?
Was there a procedure to break in/bedding the pads and rotors?
Did you make any panic stops where the ABS kicked in?
The caliper bolts and bracket bolts have to be tight too- those bracket bolts are same as wheels- 80 ft lbs and the caliper 40

The dealer is full of it 1100 to do WHATTTTT? no way
take it to firestone or midas and get it inspected for free- then come back and tell us what they say- and write on the estimate- then we can help you fix it for cheaper

If you bought the car at a car dealer- it has to have 30% brakes remaining to legally be sold- if they lasted 1 month- less than 3000 miles and you have grinding- they owe you a set of brakes- because they were at less than 10 percent when you got it

thanks for the reply..

When it was all said and done, i installed all new brakes and rotors and torqued them to spec. you wont notice it when you are breaking from 35-45mph but when im on the highway and i am breaking at 60-80 they go crazy. and i am not slamming on the breaks or anything, if i slightly apply the breaks you feel it.

i wanna say that they are ac delco rotors and i cant remember the brand of the pads, i purchased them from walker auto parts. i bought the best they had in rotors and pads. id love to purchase performance rotors and pads, but if i have to get this done by the dealer, thats not happening

You need to remove the pads and see if the old rotors made them go crazy with a groove or something
Thats the most likely cause- the rotors should be ok
Look for shiny or part shiny and marks on the pads

Usually its pad glaze
but with you putting fresh pads on what sound like gouged rotors- then the pads onto new rotors- not surprising to need a little more attention and then it will be right

a little late.... i finally figured it out. pretty much the whole time the rears where warped all to hell. just for shits and giggles we put new rotos on the front and turned the rears, and thank god it was gone.... buuuut now after a week and a half i began to hear a bit of a grinding noise coming from the rear when i brake, its almost like theyre still warped.

its become louder, if you can imagine.. a grinding noise on every rotation of the wheel. grind....silent....grind.....silent.. (i know good description) at first we thought it was just the break pad not being even with the rotor but its been a while and its still doing it.... what do you think it could be this time?

thanks for your help man!

this car is killing me, if its not one thing its another.. now the trannys slippn more and more...

register at https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura

see if trans under extended warranty and get it fixed before it goes in to 2nd on the freeway
The rear rotors are a single piece- not vented- just skinny bit of metal thats 20 bucks- replace them and make troubles disappear

It could be your rear bearings are going bad, and that could create the moving of the loose bearing as warp.

Seems to be a rash of caliper failures going around too
Fsttyms1 just had a rear sieze and was baking to boiling point on brake pad
Luckily he had fancy rotors and pads so they survived without crash involved- but still needed replacement

We are guessing without seeing and driving the car
Take it to a brake shop locally and get an opinion
If you dont change the brake fluid it gets moisture in it and that turns to rust and eats calipers
easy to replace fluid once a year at 5 dollars
Calipers are running 80-130-150 depending where you shop

From this description it sounds as though the rear calipers arent touching the rotor surface all the way. Do you see signs of even braking on the rotor surface? Its possible the rear calipers arent good any more and arent applying even pressure or retracting the way they should causing what your hearing.

well back to square one again. its was doing alright, i could tolorate the grinding noise when i would come to a stop, but now its feeling warpped again.... i see on here all the time, that people are replacing there rotors and brakes all day long and im guessing there not in the same situation im in. this is becoming really really annoying.

i think you might be right witht the calipers. becuase i cant think of anything else.

after turning the rotors its went away but it still had that grinding of and on when i came to a stop. and now there doing the same shit as before.

i guess im gonna try and replace the rotors once again, and take a look at the calipers.

how much are calipers or can they be fixed how can i tell if there bad. im hopeing it was just a couple of shity rotors... thanks for the feedback guys...
