clunking, possible fix: bump stopper (
clunking, possible fix: bump stopper (
Hey guys had this problem for 1.5 yrs can't seem to get rid of it. My car clunks on the FR side. I had several mechanics check the suspension componest and everything is solid. I change my shocks a few weeks ago and that did solve the problem. Now I was told by the parts dept that local Acura dealer that they often replace a part called 'bump stopper' Not sure if its related to top hat, strut bushings, its its a hard styro foam peace that prevent your shocks from bottoming out. part number is 51722-SS0-004.
Can someone confirm based on if bushing, links, stablizer bar, shocks, springs in all operaltion could this part cause the clunking over bump??????????????????????

The only way that would cause clunking is if your shock was bad and was actually bottoming out to hit that, in which case it would be the shock as the cause and the suspension compressing enough to hit it and make the sound.
