Climate Control Troubleshooting

I've searched numerous threads in this forum on Diagnostic Troubleshooting Codes for the Climate Control in 2nd Gen TLs. In all of them it appears that any picture or image of what the codes mean have been removed. (not sure if it's because I'm a newbie and don't have permission yet) I then googled on many variants of climate control code for 2nd Gen TLs and can't seem to find anything explaining what the codes mean.

I have an error code that I believe is a "C" as in the lower right segment of the first digit flashes between the "88" readings. I'd like to know what this code is indicating. I've checked the wiring harness it looks to be in good condition. My symptoms are that there appears to be a dead zone sometimes when setting the temperature at a comfortable setting between 68 and 75. The only way to correct it seems to be either to turn it all the way up or down. Then it seems to correct itself.

I've read that the connector and transistor have been a typical problem. But would like to get some confirmation of the DTC.

the dial nob may have a poor contact on the conductor plates, or the conductor arm on the dial may be sticking or loose.

Ok, I'll take a look. Since I don't have an electrical diagram, I'm guessing, that the dial is a potentiometer, and the armature isn't making good contact in certain spots. Most likely the ones used most often I have some electrical contact cleaner, I'll spray in behind the knob.

OK i am having similar problems:

Its close to 30 degrees outside and my heater is blowing cold air. I tried it at numerous different settings, even turned it up to 90 without any luck. I let it run for 30 plus minutes to see if the car was get warm and then warm air would start blowing but still cold air. I tried the ERROR code and b/w 88 it seems as it shows a 1 or half a one where the first 8 is the lower part of it. I don't know if you are talking about the same error code?
