Clicking at the Shifter

Looking for some assistance with an issue that began last night. Clicking began in the area around the shifter when I applied the brake. Now it clicks in all gears except Neutral. When I brake to a stop, it begins clicking. It stops when I apply the accelerator.
It only clicks when the lights are on. When I turn the switch to the off position, the clicking stops altogether.
Any ideas??

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that could be clicking down there is the shift lever release solenoid. Do you have any trouble moving the shifter around?

No I have no issues moving the shifter but the gremlin has ceased for now. Have't heard a thing since the initial problem started. Car driving smoothly.
Thanks for all the input.

Whitetiger5, I believe its the stop light switch causing the issue. I have ordered one and will replace it. (its been 17 years of stop and go traffic in NY)
I'll see if the issue is resolved.
