Changing the Stereo, and retaning Sub...help
hi, im pretty new to this forum, but ive been reading a few posts and many of you seem like you know your stuff, so here is my question... how can i put in a new stereo and still have the stock sub work? is it possible? please and info would be useful, thanks
Yes. there are 2 ways.
1. is to get a aftermarket amp (abot 300 watt) and use the sub out from your new HU and use that to power the oem sub (the easiest and best, the sub will play louder and you will have better control over it)
2. is to either use the sub out on the new hu and splice those wires into the leads for the Sub amp (behind the rear seat) or to tap into the rear speakers for the speaker leads and conect them to the sub amp input leads

it's not really worth keeping the stock sub. if you're looking for an actual sub with kick and good frequency response then i would just buy an aftermarket. i have a DVC 10" sub and it sounds like i have a 15" in my trunk. i'm very happy with it, it's small, and it didn't cost too much.
