it will leak some but not much, especially if the car is jacked up on one side leaning to the other to help keep it from coming out.

The passenger side has a intermediate shaft. Its designed so that both axles are the same length from pivot point to pivot point. The end of the axle slides into it which is supported by a carrier bearing.

It should have a little play. Don't play with it too much, though. I pulled mine too far and it fell apart inside the rubber housing. I tried to fix it by buying a new kit and repacking the grease myself, but the aftermarket clamp ring that holds the rubber boot on failed. I ended up buying a re-manufactured shaft to solve that problem.

Moral of the story: leave that part alone unless you know what you're doing.

The axle slides in and out of the carrier a inch? Is is seated? does the axle have the clip on the end. Once seated and axle in place in the knuckle it shouldnt move at all in it.

I pullled mine towards the tire and pushed it back in it felt smooth then towards the tranny almost fully in and it sounded wierd like a plunger and it felt like metal peices touching??

What is supposed to have a clamp? there are no clamps on the axle other than for the boots.

i think he's describing part #7. fsttyms1 is right - it shouldn't move when the axle is installed and the rotor assembly is seated onto it. but when the axle is pulled out of the way of the rotor and you tug on the end of the axle,(like you're removing the axle from the transmission) the part (don't what the official name is) inside #7 will slide in and out. Of course he can't see it because the rubber boot is hiding the movement.

Is that what you're describing 02?

So i left her there then i get acall from the machanic sayin that it needed a clip which im thinkin its #9 so it would slid out as much as it would cuz he said it was sliding out further then its suppost to.so now she driving fine honostly i almost forgot how smooth she drove lol
